The son of a family of transporters, Guy Autaa founded his own company. Passionate about his work and ambitious, he very soon decided to expand internationally (by offering services to Spain, followed by Belgium, Germany, Italy, Norway and England).
Established in the Lacq basin, the business developed and diversified owing to express transportation and the transportation of oil & gas equipment.
This was a watershed year for the company as the very first agency of the group was created in Verneuil L’Etang in the Paris region. AUTAA then acquired its first self-propelled crane and turned to a new activity: lifting.
Following the loss of Guy Autaa, his wife Claudine and two sons took over, keeping the company alive. From there on, the company continued to thrive. Forever forward-thinking, AUTAA diversified, chose new market niches and acquired new transportation and lifting companies.
As space was starting to run out in the first warehouse, a huge investment was made to install the company in a more suitable building in a better location.
Headquarters was built near the highway exit in ARTIX.
AUTAA committed to implementing and following a quality management system and obtained ISO 9002 certification.
AUTAA obtained ISO 9001 certification version 2000.
The company then decided to introduce a safety approach and obtained UIC certification.
It expanded its areas of competency through the acquisition, in 2005, of the Société Béarnaise de Transports Automobiles specialized in the transportation of new and second-hand vehicles.
At the end of 2005, Claudine AUTAA retired, leaving her two sons Marcel and Lionel AUTAA at the head of the family business.
The firm Aquitaine Pyrénées Levage Manutention was founded as part of the European freight operating center of Bayonne.
AUTAA obtained ISO 9001 certification version 2008 as well as MASE certification (safety certification born from a merger between UIC (French chemical industry union) and the Mase (French manual for improving safety in the workplace)) for a three-year period.
A new affiliate of the firm APLM was created in the Bordeaux region in September 2009.
AUTAA obtained QUALIMAT certification (transportation of bulk goods for animal feed).
Internal growth continued through the creation of two more agencies, one in Tarbes and one in Anais.
AUTAA bought out the Toulouse-based firm MICHEL, specialized in lifting, transportation and various handling operations.
The group diversified its transportation activities by integrating the transportation of bulk and liquid foodstuffs through its new affiliate, Transports Salles.
The offices at headquarters in ARTIX were expanded with an extra 400 m² built on one level.
Autaa Logistics was created with the inauguration of a fully racked 5000m² warehouse which more than half is dedicated to goods in cold storage.
AUTAA’s GROUP is also continuing its growth in heavy load lifting with the creation of a new agency (AUTAA NORMANDIE) based in ROUEN. Over 100 mobile cranes are now part of its fleet.
Autaa Normandie was created through organic growth. The agency, based in Grand-Quevilly, is strategically located to easily serve the cities of Le Havre and Rouen.
